Welcome to
Berg Backstops
At Berg Backstops, our mission is simple: to train and develop elite catchers who thrive as both athletes and leaders. We believe catching is the toughest position in baseball - demanding toughness, confidence, and responsibility beyond the skill work. Our goal is to prepare catchers not only to block, receive, and throw at the highest level, but also to lead with presence, communicate with pitchers, and elevate the entire team.

Why Berg Backstops?
What We Do
A proven approach blending skill development + leadership training, designed to make your catcher the backbone of the team.
Catcher-Specific Training: Customized drills in receiving, blocking, footwork, and transfers.
Leadership Development: Teaching confidence, communication, and on-field presence.
Game Mindset: Building the mental toughness to handle pressure and own the game.
Player Growth: Helping athletes at every level - from youth to high school to college-bound - reach their full potential.
What makes us different:
Specialized Catcher Development: Most programs don’t have catcher-specific training built into their practice plans. Berg Backstops fills that gap by delivering elite instruction focused only on the toughest position in sports.
Leadership Beyond the Skills: We don’t just teach receiving, blocking, and throwing. We train catchers to be communicators, competitors, and leaders - the backbone every successful team is built on.
Custom Approach for Each Program & Player: No cookie-cutter drills - every session, camp, or consultation is tailored to the needs of each individual catcher, blending proven drill progressions with leadership and mindset training.
Developing Complete Players: Our mission goes beyond teaching mechanics. Berg Backstops develops catchers who can block the dirt, control the running game, blending proven drill progressions with leadership and mindset training, and most importantly, lead their team with toughness, confidence, and presence.
Clinics and Camps
Weekly Clinics
Weekly Clinics create the perfect environment for competition and accountability. In these sessions, catchers work together on the essentials - receiving, blocking, footwork, and transfers, while also developing communication and game awareness. Each player will be challenged not only to sharpen their skills, but also to step up as a leader and bring energy to their peers. Beyond skill work, we also emphasize leadership training and game mindset, ensuring your catchers not only improve technically but also become the on-field leaders every program needs.
Camps
Our camps bring catchers of all ages together for high-energy, game-like training. Players rotate through stations that cover receiving, blocking, footwork, and transfers, while also learning how to apply these skills in live, situational drills. Every camp also emphasizes leadership and in-game mindset, preparing catchers to perform under pressure and command the field.
